Steven N’Zonzi was a respected Premier League midfielder during his spells with Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City, but his progress has turbocharged since he made a 2015 move away from England to join Sevilla. The Frenchman has been simply excellent for the La Liga club, using his physical prowess to great effect at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, helping his current club to Europa League victory last term, beating Liverpool in the final.

Although away from the glare of the English game, N’Zonzi’s name is still remembered, with Chelsea having been aligned with him ahead of the recently closed January transfer window. A move failed to come to fruition and the 28-year-old has since penned a new contract with Sevilla, but his performance vs. Leicester as his side won 2-1 in Champions League action last night may well have revived interest at Stamford Bridge…
The 6ft. 3” midfielder was a force of nature against the Foxes, with his 122 touches of the ball and 107 passes both on-pitch highs, as was his four aerial duels won. Impressively 92% of N’Zonzi’s aforementioned passes were completed, while his four key passes and four tackles won illustrated his box-to-box nature.
With Antonio Conte likely to be after additions this summer, the Sevilla star looks to be an ideal Nemanja Matic upgrade.
