The first cup final of the English season is almost upon us, and we’re so excited at FootballFanCast that we’ve made this weekend’s EFL Cup Final at Wembley between Southampton and Manchester United our Fixture in Focus.
The League Cup has seen its reputation grow in recent years, with many now talking about the tournament on the same terms they do the FA Cup, which is quite the turnaround with the competition having long been thought of as the runt sibling of the two.

We’ve had some great games and fine finals in the recent past, too, and this Sunday’s Wembley meeting between the Saints and the Red Devils could be another, with two news managers in Claude Puel and Jose Mourinho eager to secure silverware in their first seasons at their respective clubs.
In the build-up to the game we though we’d entertain the somewhat unlikely notion of players moving from Man United to Southampton to gauge the stars the Hampshire club’s supporters want most from their weekend rivals.
