According to French broadcaster RMC Sport, the encounter between Van Dijk and the PSG officials was not pre-arranged, but rather an unplanned crossing of paths. During their exchange, the Liverpool captain reportedly apologised to Luis Campos for his comments in the first leg of the tie.
The initial altercation stemmed from Campos’ frustration when Ibrahima Konate escaped a red card for an incident involving Bradley Barcola. The challenge had undergone a lengthy VAR review, but the officials ultimately decided against issuing further punishment. After the match, Van Dijk fired back at an infuriated Campos, saying: "It’s not Ligue 1, bro." However, the two parties have mended their relationship after a respectful exchange at Anfield.
