Como head coach Cesc Fabregas has turned down the chance to join Roma as Claudio Ranieri's successor, per a new report.

Per Sky Italia, Roma contacted Fabregas as they aim to replace Claudio Ranieri, but the ex-Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder is set to stay at Como instead. The Spaniard had been linked with Bayer Leverkusen too, with Xabi Alonso joining Real Madrid, but Fabregas wants to stay, having guided Como to 10th in Serie A.

Roma, as a result, have already turned their attentions to another target and are eyeing Gian Piero Gasperini. The 67-year-old has been with Atalanta since 2016, winning the Europa League in 2023-24. He has already rejected Roma on multiple occasions but a new approach has not been ruled out.
