Atletico Madrid are getting closer to signing Milan full-back Theo Hernandez, with the Liga club reportedly offering an increased fee.

The left-back has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Liga club and has moved one step closer to signing for the Spanish giants after Atletico decided to increase their offer from €15 million (£13m/$17m) to somewhere closer to €20m (£17m/$23m).

The 27-year-old recently rejected an approach from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, opting to stay in Europe for the peak years of his career. Having come through the youth ranks at Atletico Madrid before switching across to city rivals Real in 2017, Hernandez knows the Spanish capital well and is reportedly keen to head back.

Hernandez won two major trophies during his time in Milan, getting his hands on the Scudetto in 2020/21 and winning the Supercoppa Italiana in 2024/25. He was also named as the club's Player of the Season in 2019/20 and was named in the Serie A Team of the Year on four occasions.

Milan may have been hoping for a slightly bigger fee, but Atletico's €20m offer appears likely to get the deal over the line. The Frenchman is out of contract in 2026 and the Rossoneri will be desperate to recoup a fee for their highly-rated full-back.
